CHARLOTTE, N.C. (January 26, 2021) \u2013 Krista Terrell, APR, has been named acting president of the Arts & Science Council (ASC) effective immediately. Terrell, an accredited public relations practitioner (APR) who has been with the local arts agency for nearly 19 years, most recently as vice president of marketing and communications. Jeep Bryant announced his resignation as ASC President on January 13.<\/p>

She will serve in this short-term role until an interim president is named.<\/p>

\u201cKrista is a respected and known leader in the community and in the cultural sector. Her experience and leadership are needed during this transition,\u201d said ASC Board Chair Susan Patterson. \u201cASC\u2019s Board of Directors has every confidence in Krista and her abilities to provide steady leadership for the organization and its team members. This move will ensure ASC\u2019s work to support the cultural sector continues to move forward at this critical time as we determine a long-term plan.\u201d<\/p>

Terrell is experienced in creating, leading and implementing various ASC community initiatives, including Culture Feast, where 1,000 people shared a community table dinner in uptown Charlotte and connected through arts and cultural experiences, and Connect with Culture Day, where more than 11,000 residents engaged in free access to arts and cultural experiences.<\/p>

She also launched CharlotteCultureGuide.com, a consumer-facing platform that serves as a gateway for residents and visitors to learn about and connect to arts and cultural experiences.<\/p>

She is a native of Augusta, Ga. and is a graduate of Johnson C. Smith University. She currently serves on the Board of Ethics and Professional Standards for the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and is the inaugural recipient of the Mosaic Award from PRSA Charlotte chapter for advancing the cause of diversity, equity and inclusion in her work. She is a member of the Charlotte Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.<\/p>

She is married to Gerald Terrell, Jr. and they have two young sons.<\/p>
