CHARLOTTE, N.C. (June 20, 2024) \u2013 The Arts & Science Council (ASC) has named Adam Santalla Pierce interim president of ASC. Santalla Pierce has been with the local arts agency for seven years, most recently as vice president of community and artist support. He will continue to lead ASC\u2019s grantmaking while serving in his new role. Santalla Pierce replaces Monifa Drayton, whose temporary assignment as interim ASC president concludes June 23. \u00a0<\/p>

\u201cAdam is a respected leader across Charlotte-Mecklenburg\u2019s creative sector and has extensive knowledge of ASC\u2019s operations,\u201d said ASC Board Chair Tony Perez. \u201cWe\u2019re grateful to have an experienced leader of his caliber who can help guide the organization and its team.\u201d<\/p>

During Santalla Pierce\u2019s time leading ASC grant programs, the organization more than tripled its investments in creative individuals, from $446,000 in 2021 to $1.7 million in 2022 and $1.5 million in 2023. Originally from Alexandria, Va., Santalla Pierce (he\/him) worked for performing arts organizations in Washington, D.C., Virginia and North Carolina before joining ASC in 2017.<\/p>

ASC\u2019s Board of Directors is conducting a national search to find the organization\u2019s next leader.<\/p>
